Earlier this year, on April 22, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship announced that, after a temporary pause caused chiefly by the pandemic, Canada Express Entry draws will start again in early July [1]. Everyone who’s interested in applying for permanent residency in Canada now has their chance! And since we still have some time, the best thing you can do is start gathering the necessary documents. In this post, you will find all the required information about the documents you have to collect or obtain before applying for PR via the Canada Express Entry platform.
Goal: Immigration to Canada 2022!
There are a few things to remember, though, if you want to maximize your chances and be in the pool when the Canadian Express Entry draws start again. For starters, you need to get acquainted with programs covered by Express Entry Canada requirements and gather all the required documents and proofs. And that’s what we’re going to talk about today.
CRS – COMPREHENSIVE RANKING SYSTEM AKA CANADA POINTS
Before you start the whole process, you should verify your eligibility for any Federal Program under Express Entry and your CRS potential score. You can check that yourself using the Express Entry website. There are three immigration programs within Express Entry:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (for skilled workers with foreign work experience in so-called skilled occupations)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (for workers qualified in a skilled trades)
- Canadian Experience Class (for skilled workers who have at least 12 months of work experience in Canada in qualified NOC)

LANGUAGE TEST RESULTS
Regarding a language test, you have two options:
- CELPIP: You can take this test only in Canada, Japan, Nigeria, Australia, South Korea, Singapore, UAE, Philippines, India, China, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
- IELTS: This test is more popular among applicants, primarily because it’s available in 100+ countries.
Both tests evaluate four basic language skills:
- writing
- reading
- listening
- speaking
Important: Your test results must be less than two years old when you submit your application!
PROOF OF EDUCATION (ECA)
There are five institutions providing credential assessment for immigration purposes. Here are your options:
It’s up to you which institution you pick. In every case, though, you have to be prepared that evaluation of your diploma can take even three months or more. It’s better to start early if you plan to apply for PR. From our experience – we recommend WES for all University level assessments and the University of Toronto for high school and technical schools which are high school level.
These three documents are necessary to complete your application process. At this stage, you don’t need anything else. You will need more documents once your application is approved. Let’s have a closer look at them.
